Micromachine Exhibitionâ in the 1990âs, the fair has grown dramatically to become âExhibition Micromachine/MEMSâ, and has advanced together with the development of microprocessing technologyin Japan. Micro and Nano fabrication are becoming more important key technologies for manufacturing MEMS, bio and medical equipments. MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) as well as Micro processing and fabrication systems have a wide range of applications. As such technologies become more sophisticated and different industries integrate their use, the systems are reaching impressive breakthroughs and are quickly gaining in popularity. The show has been providing a platform that enables such technological exchange, and has attracted thousands of professionals and organisations from technological development companies and research organisations, not only from Japan but across the world. Renamed as Nano Micro Biz, the fair will focus on various micro and nano processing systems even more. The main exhibits will showcase a wide array of key devices and the latest technologies related to research and development, fabrication, quality control and countless other applications. They include nanomicro processing, printed electronics equipment, nano/micro processing materials and tools, packaging technology, equipment and material, design tools and technology, nano/micro applied systems and modules, nano/micro devices, measurement, inspection and reliability testing machine, nano/micro foundry and contract processing. The fair will be inviting world leading researchers and is scheduled to run various concurrent programs such as âThe 19th International Micromachine/Nanotech Symposiumâ, âJapanese-German Micro Nano Business Forumâ, âNational Project Reportâ, âMEMS Packaging Forumâ and âWorkshops on Industry and University Cooperationâ. Nano Micro Biz will be held together with âROBOTECH â the Exhibition on Next-Generation Service Robot Manufacturing Technologyâ. ROBOTECH showcases the elemental technologies which support the practical application and advancement of next generation robots (service robots), a field which MEMS devices are applied as sensors. Service robots, which can make up for the low birth rate and aging population of Japan, and compensate labour shortage, are the second largest growth field following the field after Japanâs motor industry. The 4th ROBOTECH, in addition to showcasing devices such as sensors and actuators, will contribute to the nationâs growth by promoting the fusion of these technologies with IT fields such as image processing, automatic control and information technologies. Other exhibit highlights include sensor devices, mechanical components and equipment, evaluation/measurement testing equipment and systems, information technologies/designing/developing/simulation/control software, power supply and batteries, materials, robots for research and teaching materials, fabrication/manufacturing/assembly and related services. âNano Micro Bizâ and âROBOTECHâ will be held concurrently with âThermotec 2013â In 2012 the total number of visitors for Exhibition Micromachine/MEMS and ROBOTECH was 10,985 which increased from the previous year. Through its new title and focusâNano Micro Bizâ, more synergy is expected between the show and ROBOTECH. The shows will be held concurrently with âThermotec 2013 âthe 6th International Exhibition on Industrial Furnace, Thermal Technology, Equipment and Materialâ that is held from 3-5 July at Tokyo Big Sight. Held once every four years, Thermotec is Asia's most influential exhibition for industrial furnace, thermal technology, equipment and materials and is the one and only trade fair in the industry in Japan. As there are fields where MEMS sensorsare applied, such as pressure and temperature measuring devices for industrial furnace, Nano Micro Biz, ROBOTECH and Thermotec2013 will be a precious opportunity where experts from global R&D companies and research organisations can gather and work together to strengthen their respective industries.
