Thursday, November 29, 2012 Leading IT solutions provider, ESDS, is celebrating the first anniversary of the launch of its intelligent auto-scaling cloud platform – eNlight. It was launched in November 2011 by Mr. Kris Srikkanth, former captain of the Indian cricket team and Chairman of the Selection Committee. eNlight, developed as an ideal solution for seamless scalability and cost efficiency; When compared with some other cloud providers in the market, scales above and beyond them through its unique features – auto-scaling without reboot, pay for what you use and not for what is “allocated” to you, elastic storage (ability to move disks between VMs), amazing scalability and reliability.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Piyush Somani, MD and CEO announced that in the one year since it was launched, eNlight has been exceptionally well received by the customers. “When we started working on eNlight, the aim was to develop an intelligent, highly scalable and reliable cloud computing platform suitable for almost all demanding requirements and still remain one of the most cost-effective cloud computing platforms around.” ESDS launched eNlight in the UK in January 2012 through its UK web hosting partners. “eNlight was sold out within the first few months of its launch in the UK, a great sign of the confidence our customers in the UK have shown in eNlight. A big thanks to our clients who have made eNlight so popular and our R&D team for developing such a unique cloud platform.” – said Mr. Somani. With its ability to scale up or scale down resources in real time, that too without reboot, in response to fluctuations; the pay-as-you-use billing model and the trusted name of ESDS behind it, eNlight is fast catching on in the cloud hosting market.

Many of ESDS’ current eNlight clients have migrated to eNlight from other traditional hosting setups. One such client, MAHASEC (Maharashtra State Election Commission) hosted on eNlight; their website served more than 16,000 simultaneous connections on the 2012 Municipal Corporation Elections day. eNlight automatically scaled up the website’s hardware resources, which peaked at 72 GB of RAM and 24 CPUs. A similar setup would have required 60 Active Servers with various software licences, resulting in huge capital and operational expenses. With eNlight Cloud, MAHASEC's monthly expenditure was down to only 10% of this estimated cost, leading to a substantial 70% cost savings.

Kafila Travel, a popular travel company in Delhi, is one of our corporate customers who have been extremely happy with the performance of eNlight since they migrated over. Kafila’s servers regularly scale up to 24 cores during peak hours ensuring that their portal is always up and fast and even then Kafila is saving 70% of its expenses. With another client of ESDS hosted on eNlight, its application server scales up to 90GB RAM per virtual machine during peak times, whereas the database server performs 3000 64 KB storage IOPs. One of the major educational institutes in India is hosted on eNlight and is achieving savings of around 50% on a month to month basis.

“ESDS remains committed to offering exceptional web hosting solutions for businesses across the globe. We will continue our innovations on eNlight with the technological advancements ensuring that eNlight gets bigger, better and faster through inclusion of latest technologies. We will continue to research and innovate to in order to offer our customers the best products and services in this dynamic market” concluded Mr. Somani.
