Hockey Stars Supported Smile Foundation At Airtel Delhi Half Marathon

Hockey Stars Harender Singh, former coach in-charge of Indian hockey team and Ashok Kumar, son of hockey wizard Dhyan Chand were the goodwill ambassadors for Smile Foundation at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2012. The hockey stars commenced their ambassadorship by supporting the education of 50 children of Smile Foundation. Smile Foundation is a national level development organization that directly benefits 200,000 underprivileged children and youth across 25 states in India.

Both the sports stars have also taken the onus of supporting 50 underprivileged children beneficiaries of Smile foundation this Joy of Giving Week. For the same they will unveil the wish bag which commits to fulfill the wishes of the children. Thus are unveiling the significant wish bag, which has the unheard wishes of many underprivileged children. Through this ,joy of giving week, smile foundation commits to fulfill the wishes of more than 1000 children.
Harish Nandan Sahay, Director Operations-Smile Foundation stated, “Smile Foundation is honoured that Mr. Harender Singh and Mr. Ashok Kumar, are representing us in this big a platform. It is great to see that these stars sensitizing people, for supporting the cause of children’s education. I just wish that more and more reputed people like him, realize their individual social responsibilities and support the cause.”
Along with Harender Singh and Ashok Kumar, senior officials and employees of corporate like Barclays Shared Services were also present to support Smile Foundation. This is the third time when Smile Foundation participated at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon with an aim to sensitize maximum number of people for the cause of education.
Since 2010, Smile Foundation has been actively associated with the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM) and has successfully brought together 10 corporate houses and raising approximately Rs 10 lakh so far towards its national education initiative- Mission Education.
