China suppliers see India’s huge population as an important new market
India’s population of 1.21 billion makes it the second most populated country in the world, of which 400 million are middle-class consumers with strong purchasing power.
Wong said: “Eight to ninety million housing units are expected to be built in India in the next 10-15 years. This represents a massive opportunity for China hardware and construction manufacturers.”
One exhibitor, General Manager of Chao'an Ouni Ceramics Industrial Co., Su Xihe, said: “The China Sourcing Fairs open the door to India’s fast-growing consumer market. By meeting face-to-face with India’s top buyers here in Mumbai, we are developing trading relationships that will benefit us now and to an even greater degree in the future.” Admittance to the Fairs is free to qualified buyers.
