Wednesday, February 08, 2012:
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the addition of the U1610A and U1620A oscilloscopes to its portfolio of handheld instruments. For enhanced safety, both models include two isolated input channels, certified to CAT III 600 V, that protect users and prevent damages to devices when performing floating measurements.
The U1610A has a 100 MHz bandwidth and 1 GSa/s sampling rate while the U1620A provides 200 MHz bandwidth and 2 GSa/s sampling rate. With a maximum memory depth of 2 Mpts, users can capture non-repeating signals such as motor start up sequence, in-rush and transient waveforms without sacrificing signal details. This also allows users to capture pulse width modulated waveforms commonly found in Variable Frequency Drive and power inverter systems over a wider time base.

The 5.7-inch (diagonal) sunlight viewable screen uses TFT LCD technology with enhanced color intensity to clearly distinguish waveform details. With resolution of 640x480 pixels, the U1610A and U1620A offer four times the resolution of comparable handheld oscilloscopes. Its benchtop-like display and dual window zoom function allow users to easily identify problem areas and zoom in for more detailed analysis.
Both models feature three viewing modes: indoor, outdoor and night vision. Each mode uses predefined contrast levels to help engineers and technicians to analyze waveforms under all lighting conditions.
“From full sunlight to darkest night, our handheld oscilloscopes offer the ultimate viewing experience and provide tremendous convenience in a variety of industrial and electronics applications,” said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Basic Instruments Division. “The U1610A and U1620A are part of our ongoing efforts to deliver dependable tools that provide essential and innovative capabilities while remaining easy to use.”
The new oscilloscopes further enhance user convenience by including two built-in capabilities: a 10,000-count digital multimeter and real-time data-logging capabilities. U.S. Pricing and Availability
The U1600 Series is available worldwide. U.S. list prices are $3,100 for the U1610A and $3,400 for the U1620A. More information is available online at www.agilent.com/find/U1600. High-resolution images are available at www.agilent.com/find/U1620_images.
